brisbane, the boys, and the big banana

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

My brother Derek and his wife Jac and Sebastian are moving to sunny Brisbane to work at a church in Mitchelton. Some personal items had to be moved so Darren and I decided to make a roadtrip out of it.

Derek and Darren at the Big Banana

Bryon Bay on the way to Brisbane Byron Bay on the way to Brisbane

Two days of driving up and one solid day of driving back. We got to stop at the Big Banana, Byron Bay, Port Maquarie a bunch of pie shops and also have a look around Brisbane in the night. All of that plus some male bonding time.

There will probably be many more trips to Brisbane in the future – will be sad without Derek, Jac and Sebastian so close. Excited for them though.

iphone

The iphone – pretty impressive. Comes out in Australia in late 2008 which is pretty lame. A lot can happen in 2 years. I could have bionic arms by then. Actually if I had the choice, I would get bionic arms.

Luke improving the landscape

Luke intended to wreck this shot. Could have been another boring beach shot, but just as I clicked the button … BAM! Luke fixed that.

I experimented with the colours in this shot; tried some cross-processing – digital style.

Gerroa Sunset

Tahl and James run for the squid James, Tahl, and Jasper and the dead Squid they found

I had a lot of fun at Gerroa this year. Had lots of family staying at this caravan park that Mum and Dad usually go to. Even thought the water inflicted hypothermia we spent a lot of time down the beach; either swimming or playing beach cricket and soccer. Sunsets were nice.

Tahl and his mate James found something interesting on the beach – so after hitting it with sticks they ran back to me to see if I could figure out what it was – like i was Dr.Quin Medicine Woman or something. They bolted down the beach with Jasper and I trying to keep up. It was really interesting and pretty off. It looked like a squid had turned itself inside out – it was a squid that had turned itself inside out!

Tahl and Jasper then proceeded to hit it some more and squeal as brown fluids squirted out of it. Oh the fun of being a 9 year old scientist!

2007 hey?! Can’t wait! Going to be a big year I think.

2006 was a big year:

I started blank, I did some big things with my business (that also included wiping all the things I had done), I joined a new band and we released a 2 track recording, I played a lot of music with my new band (blackstump, tours to melbourne and albury).

I got to see some of my music loves in concert (Tommy Emmanuel, John Mayer and U2), I bowled my best game ever.

I went on a great holiday to Byron, my best mate Ben got married, Laura and I go through our first year of marriage and my brother Derek and his wife Jac had their son Sebastian.

… and that was all in a year. 2007 is going to be even bigger … I can feel it.
