license to beer

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Two days in a row I was taken to a beer cafe by friend and/or family. Last friday with Derek & Darren, and then last Saturday with Bradwina (Brad & Edwina).

Belgian Beer Café Passport

On Saturday Bradwina took Laura and I to the Belgian Beer Café in Cammeray and Brad and I got these ‘Beer Passports‘ for free. If you drink all of the beers listed in the passport across 6 months you win a ‘mystery prize’ (sounds lame) and your prestige of having your name up on the ‘Board of Fame‘. Sounds like an expensive challenge … but the book was free!

On top of all that, Ric from Home & Away was in the restaurant as well! Mingling with the big wigs.

Sebastian & Grandad in the Pool Sebastian & Grandad in the Pool

Derek, Jac, and Sebastian have come to visit for a week. Great to see them. Sebastian was hanging out with his Grandad in the pool and I got these motion shots that I thought came out well – I like how the water looks so thick.

I have heaps of memories of Dad throwing me around in the pool … he seems reluctant to do it to me these days … not sure why! I put it down to laziness.

smashing forehand!

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

This week I have been lent a Nintendo Wii (thanks Joe). I have done nothing but hurt my arm by playing baseball & bowling.

Tonight Debbie came over for a few rounds of tennis with Laura. A set and a half in, Laura serves the ball and Debbie runs toward the TV and executes a smashing forehand … literally! Debbie’s hand went straight through the tall glass of water that was on the coffee table smashing the glass into a thousand pieces, spraying water all over our room and cutting up Debbie’s hand like she had been in a bar fight. None of us knew what to do …

Luckily only Debbie’s was hurt and the Wii came away unscathed – it was a close call though. We asked her to promptly leave and she won’t be invited back in a hurry.

Flight of the Conchords

I won’t go on, but Flight of the Conchords is one of the funniest shows around. It is about two guys in a band that move to New York to make it big. There is much to laugh at – yeah, even more than just their accents! I went through the whole series in a week and intend to do it many more in the next 4 months I have off.
