nuns’ fun

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

For our two year anniversary (september last year) Laura and I were given a voucher from my parents for the Nuns’ Pool at Shelley Beach. We had saved it for a long time till Laura was on holidays – so we got to use it on Thursday.

It was a pretty impressive day so we walked over the road and mucked around with the camera for a bit. Clear blue skies make any photograph look amazing … Laura has that same effect I think.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Batman - The Dark Knight Speed Racer

This year will bring some movies that I have been waiting a long time for. I grew up on Indiana Jones and there was always talk of a fourth movie. It has been 19 years since The Last Crusade was released, and I gave up after 17 years … I look stupid now! I can’t wait. I don’t care how old Harrison Ford is, he is still cool plus it will have Shia LaBeouf in it which will kick the movie into this millennium.

I loved the Tim Burton ‘Batman’ movies but after that it quickly went south. I was really stoked when Batman Begins wiped the slate clean and returned to the gritty and the dark. The Dark Knight has a lot of room for error since The Joker has already been done so well by Jack Nicholson. From what I have seen though, it is going to be good.

A Speed Racer film had to be made sometime, and who better to make it than the Watchowski (use to be brothers) Siblingssearch the net for that story. The style looks amazing and the Watchowskis really have an idea of what good action is. I just hope that they recreate Speed’s overly girlie / breathy scream faithfully.

south west roxxx!

I spent last week in South West Roxxx which is 5 hours north of Sydney.

SWR - Rock Pools : Nathan, Brett, and Me

SWR - Rock Pools : Nathan, Liam, Brett, and Me (looking like a Hippo) Rock Pools : (clockwise) Paul, Liam, Brett, Nathan, Marc I caught a Rock Cod … it was ugliness in fish form.

Marc Monsell usually goes up there for Christmas and this year he got a bunch of us together to share in the fun. It was non-stop action for 6 days straight: beach, beach cricket, jumping off bridges, garage test matches, more beach, fishing adventures, 4WD driving, golf …

My favourite of the week was these amazing rock pools that we visited. It was a bit of a trek to get there but it was so worth it. Marc and Ben Schubert took the photos above. Ben also took the photo of me catching the ugliest fish ever made – the South West Roxx Cod.

Seven Mile Beach Sunset Family Walk on Seven Mile Beach - Dad, Laura, & Mum
Seven Mile Beach - through the trees Chair & Window at Mollymook

Another Christmas, another Gerroa holiday. The beach was a lot more kind to us this year – better surf and (maybe) not as cold. On one of our family walks Dad and I were taking some photos of Seven Mile Beach – was a great night for it.

Laura and I also had a chance to get to Mollymook to visit Sam & Mel at Mollymook which was ‘number one!’ Now I am back for a day then off for a week at South West Roxxx!
