Best Songs of 2009

After seeing a few similar things around the net, I thought I would have some fun and make my ‘Best of 2009‘ playlist using iTunes smart playlist feature: Year = 2009 + Most Played.

I have tampered with the list a little – taking out songs that got a fair amount of plays due to guitar practice and the like plus adding songs that I knew I listened to on my iPod.  The list got a little out of control so I limited it to 15.

I wish I could post the MP3’s or put them all in one big file to share, but I am pretty sure I would get a slap on the wrist for that … so, no dice.  Here is the list though if you feel like recreating it and listening it through.  Would love to know what you think:

  1. Two Weeks Grizzly Bear
  2. Dog Days Are Over Florence And The Machine
  3. My Girls Animal Collective
  4. Island, IS Volcano Choir
  5. Anonanimal Andrew Bird
  6. Gifted (Feat, Kanye West, Santagold & Lykke Li) N.A.S.A
  7. Empire State of Mind (Feat. Alicia Keys) Jay-Z
  8. 1901 Phoenix
  9. The Reeling Passion Pit
  10. The Price Dappled Cities
  11. She’s A Genius JET
  12. Treat Me Like Your Mother The Dead Weather
  13. Silver Trembling Hands The Flaming Lips
  14. Kettering The Antlers
  15. Harry Patch (In Memory Of) Radiohead

I'm The Boss of This Place!

Laura and I recently had our 4 Year Wedding Anniversary.  To celebrate we went to Melbourne for the weekend.

Most of the weekend was taken up by finding different restaurants, cafes and chocolate stores to clean out. I took this of Laura at Federation Square just before we left – was my favourite photo from the trip.

Elliot Hanna

This is the newest addition to the greater Hanna family – Elliot Bartholemew Hanna.  Coming up to 3 months now.  Derek and Jac visited last weekend with Sebastian and Elliot and Laura and I got to meet him.

This face could mean a number of things: ‘What is that noise?’, ‘What you talking about Willis?’, or ‘I’m doing some business’.  Either or all.

Gran Torino Poster Benjamin Button Poster

Every now and then you find yourself recommending to anyone and everyone a movie that you fell in love with. This year I have seen two already.

Gran Torino was really outstanding. Really entertaining, and exceptionally moving.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was captivating – one of the best films I have ever seen. I didn’t blink in the whole 3 hours. A large part of that could have to do with the gargantuan man-crush I have on Brad Pitt, but that is my issue.

On Saturday Luke and I had the opportunity to represent FisherKing in a radio interview. We guest hosted the ‘Australian Muso Show‘ on SWR 99.9. It was a lot of fun. We were both pretty clueless with our answers and with what to say, but we gave it a go.

I have edited the interview and posted it here. Download it and have a listen if you want – FisherKing SWR Interview. If you do listen to it, you’ll find it a little fragmented – I had to chop out all the songs that were played in between. Hopefully this isn’t our last chance at an interview, cause we can only get better! Hopefully there will be many more to come.
