Gran Torino Poster Benjamin Button Poster

Every now and then you find yourself recommending to anyone and everyone a movie that you fell in love with. This year I have seen two already.

Gran Torino was really outstanding. Really entertaining, and exceptionally moving.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was captivating – one of the best films I have ever seen. I didn’t blink in the whole 3 hours. A large part of that could have to do with the gargantuan man-crush I have on Brad Pitt, but that is my issue.

On Saturday Luke and I had the opportunity to represent FisherKing in a radio interview. We guest hosted the ‘Australian Muso Show‘ on SWR 99.9. It was a lot of fun. We were both pretty clueless with our answers and with what to say, but we gave it a go.

I have edited the interview and posted it here. Download it and have a listen if you want – FisherKing SWR Interview. If you do listen to it, you’ll find it a little fragmented – I had to chop out all the songs that were played in between. Hopefully this isn’t our last chance at an interview, cause we can only get better! Hopefully there will be many more to come.

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular Black Kids - Partie Traumatic Kings of Leon - Only By The Night

MGMT write pretty amazing songs. It has taken me a while to get into it, but I am diggin it now.

After all the fun with ‘Crazy Days in Tokyo’ I thought I would get into some electro-synth keyboard sounds. Black Kids delivers just that. Only way to really enjoy the album is to follow one rule: when the girls voice annoys you, skip the track.

Kings Of Leon have changed a fair bit and this is the first album I have enjoyed since Youth and Young Manhood. The song ‘Sex on Fire‘ is a bit worrisome though – sounds like somethings wrong … perhaps an inflammation or a rash. Definitely something to talk to you GP about.

Submarine Sebastian

Last week I was lucky enough to fly up to Brisbane, spend some time with Derek, Jac and Sebastian as well as meet Mark Driscoll. ‘Meet’ in the loose sense of the word, but still meet. Derek organised an event in Brisbane for him to speak at so I went along. A really great night – an amazing speaker with such clear and convicting thoughts.

After the event I hung out for a few days and hang out with Sebastian. I took these photos when we were down at the park one day at Portside.

Sydney Apple Store

Darren and I went into the new Sydney Apple Store the other day. It is an impressive shop – beautiful glass stairs, heaps of windows … mum would go crazy if she had to clean it.
