FisherKing win Fuse

Found out yesterday that FisherKing won triple j’s Fuse Festival Unearthed competition. We are all pretty amped.  In 2 weeks time we are flown down to Adelaide to play at an industry showcase.

It was pretty suprising to log onto triple j’s website and find 4 familiar faces staring back!

FisherKing went to Melbourne last week to play a gig with Bonjah.  It was a great night – thanks to everyone who came down the Veludo and made it a great night.  We were lucky enough to spend the next day hanging out in Melbourne and even a brief stint in Albury.

Unfortunately I missed my friends Kelly and Adam from Albury cause Kelly was too busy giving birth to her son Ayce.  I’m a little annoyed they couldn’t fit me in, but still – great for them.

John Scofield

I was a little disappointing that I missed out on seeing John Scofield in concert the last week … then I found out he was doing a workshop at the conservatorium for free. BAM!

Rocked up 10 minutes before it started and Baher, Luke and I sat our bad asses in the front row – even though it was packed, people had left three seats at the front. Must have known we were coming. I was a metre from him and his pedal board (gee he had some cool toys). It was unbelievable. He was an brilliant guitarist and such a down to earth and inspiring guy.

Found out through a series of phone calls, that tonight FisherKing was played on triple j! Not only where we played, but Rosie Beaton found us through our Unearthed page and liked our song so much that she decided to play it. Not only that, but then (on air I am told) a review was written on our unearthed page.

All this happened at around 8:30pm or so. Pretty stoked at the moment. Hopefully this will be the start of many. And yeah! That is a 4/5 stars.

Next step is to get Crazy Days in Tokyo played … somehow I don’t think the world is ready for that though.

At uni I chose the subject ‘Electronic Music‘. For our main assignment we had to record a song and so I chose to do the filthiest, nastiest, cheesiest synth anthem I could. Mission accomplished.

I got Steph to make up some lyrics and sing over it which turned out really great – especially cause they are in french. Download it and have a listen – especially take note of the massive 80’s guitar solo that is harmonized … with finger tapping. Yes.

It’s called ‘Crazy Days in Tokyo‘.  I completely expect it to be the next big thing on the internet.  My very own sneezing panda or fat kid dancing.
